flying motorcycles

While sitting in the office yesterday, there was a loud crashing sound and then "SSSSSSHHHHH" a motorcycle went sliding down the road right past our facility, past the front gate and then the rider was trying to run after it, limping every other step! My husband called 911 and I ran out to check on the guy and to make sure there weren't others hurt. It was just the rider, he took air and stood up, then went down. His pants and jacket were all ripped up, however they were Kevlar lined so he was just bruised and scraped a little. He parked his bike and headed off down the road. (a broken oil pan, no clutch, it was up the road, rim was thrashed, just a mess, not going anywhere) The owner of the bike came back to clear the debris from the road. He said the rider was hurting, but otherwise fine. He's lucky he didn't die!

Two, two, two worlds in one!

So,I look out my front door and see storage facility...
I look out my back door and I see pond and trees and it makes up for looking out the front door!

He's alive!

Today I received a letter from the US government stating that my brother died before my Dad who passed in July of 2006. It was news to me! Well, my brother is ALIVE. The mistake was easy to fix, so now he's alive again...they had already corrected it before I called.
So, I wonder how many people are assumed dead and don't know? Hmmm...

Am I trained for this?

Ever go to school for two or more years, get a degree and then not work in the field you have the degree in? That's me in a way. I am schooled to be an early childhood educator and instead I am working in a storage facility office answering phones. I answered phones when I worked at a childcare center, however the reasons for the calls were very different.
I love working with kids, but I just can't do it anymore...it's exhausting. I have a crushed disk in my neck that makes lifting the little ones difficult. Do you know how many ECE teachers have bad backs? Most of them!
I was the curriculum coordinator, a big name for the person who puts together what the teachers and kids do everyday (that includes craft projects too). Oh, I guess that is a big job when it's in writing. Program coordinator, curriculum coordinator, food program coordinator and break giver. Those were my jobs...all at once too. It was a lot of responsibility. I did like working in the office and especially the kitchen. Paperwork and cooking...that's for me.
Since that job two years ago, I've had hand surgery, lost twins at 4 1/2 months along and had a hysterectomy and found out I have ITP, a blood disorder that I have to keep an eye on. That's all. Oh wait, I moved in with my dad when we found out his heart was only working at 15% and I was his sole caregiver with the help of hospice until he passed. That was a little over a month, 24 hrs a day, only leaving the house twice for a total of two hours. Man, how crazy is that? I wouldn't have had it any other way. I could've used more visitors though...enough of that....
This was all about doing a job you were trained for. I have been and am being trained for life. It's as simple as that. The universe said, "Hey we want you to work in a storage facility office" and so here I am.
I have a dizzy headache now. Better post this.

My birdhouse

I have to work on my photography skills, however, this is an attempt at using the Donna Dewberry painting technique. It's fun.

Clothes designers

I was on Violette's links looking at clothing designers and remembered my Aunts granddaughter, my cousin, Emily has been at it for a time now in California. (My fifteen year old likes her stuff.) Her website is fillydesigns.com and one of her descriptions for her line is as adult play clothes. How fun.

Scratch the craft cat

I have to cover any crafts I work on because the cats always want to add their own touch when I'm not around. Scratch is inside of the bin I have the ATC's I'm working on. In the background is an empty cat bed. The other cats are snoozing as well...
The charms for the swap are in the uppermost bin almost done!

my pond

We had some icy hail fall today and the ducks seemed to love it. I went onto the porch to get their picture and the weren't still! What were they thinking?!

My sister and the prince of BC

My big sis and her grandson came down to visit recently. I love when he visits. She has two other grandsons...they're pugs. They don't visit as often anymore.

Baby chunky

I finally finished this book Ive made for a friend who just had a baby.

Finally! ATC's

I did it. I made some ATC's. I now see that I need to buy some inks to age things and some good watercolors. I had fun and yes, it is addicting. I have more in the works and early stages. As I made some, my eighteen year old son stood grinning, "I just don't get it" he said. I told him he didn't have to. I do and that's all that matters!

Saturday

I sat in the office for four hours and there was not one call and no one came in, except for the mail carrier. I watched "The Holiday" on my laptop (cute movie) and worked on ATC's. I've got to finish one!
I will make posting one my next posting goal...

stuff

I made it out yesterday. Got my brushes, a lot of paper for crafting, inks, stickers... such fun. Now I'm off to the office to answer phones and make things while I wait for people to call. I expect it to be a quiet day for the phones. :)

Happy St Patricks Day!

Where'd my energy run off to?

Today is a slow day for me. I want to get moving, I have much I want to do, but have no energy.
Is it my thyroid? I have hypothyroidism. Is it the ITP? My body doesn't seem to want to make good ole blood platelets for me and my platelet count fluctuates...it's almost below 100,000 right now. It wears me down. Maybe it's both of them together right now.
My husband gave me the go ahead to go to the craft store and buy new paintbrushes and paints,(mine are getting worn out) and I can't motivate. THAT should tell ya how bad I feel!
Heh, the day isn't over yet...

ATC's

I just learned about ATC's and have begun making some to swap. I'll be posting one or two soon!

My shrink plastic charms

These are some of the shrink plastic charms I made. First I cut out shapes, punched holes with a hole punch, then I used my embossing gun to shrink them and then immediately used stamps for the images on them. For the green, I used thinned out acrylic paint...it was all I had.
It's fun and easy.

Pretty kitty

This is our little Crazy girl. She has so many blocks of colors on her body, that she looks like a crazy quilt...hence the name, crazy. When she faces you, her face is orange on one side (split down the middle) and black on the other...it's crazy looking.
She thinks they smell good...too bad they aren't real.

Gimme room...

my husband and I moved with our children to a new town a half hour from the town we lived in for fifteen years. We moved from a three bedroom house with a garage and two large carports to a single wide mobile home with two bedrooms and a covered back porch. We are on site managers of a storage facility, so we do have a storage unit, however, my husband and I live in the living room, while the teenagers each have their own room.
The living room is my bedroom, living room, laundry folding room, crafting room, office and basically the everything room. It has made arts and crafts almost impossible...but not totally. My itty bitty kitchen table is covered in everything for making charms for a charm swap that I'm thrilled to be a part of and crow books that are being made for my family members by my sister and myself. We ARE Crow's...it's our maiden name. I am a baby Crow.
Anyway...my days are filled with coming up with ways of making more room...ways of organizing and downsizing...simplifying my life. I'm always open to hearing other's ideas and suggestions, so if anyone out there has an offering, let 'em rip!

Living life...

Watching television and making things. That's the life. Of course there are also kids with colds, laundry, work, cooking dinner...so many things to do and take care of, however, knowing that I can take my mind off of those things by creating makes it all worthwhile.
