turning sixteen

Next week...daughter turns sixteen...she can't decide on how to celebrate...this friend doesn't like that friend and so on...can't afford a dozen parties! She won't have a pedicure or manicure...germs (OCD worries)...She wants to travel far away and I have high anxiety when I drive ten miles away, so I don't leave home much. Oy...Whatever does or doesn't happen,she's good about remaining happy. I just wanted to make it extra special, after all you only turn sixteen once.
Any suggestions???

cheep, cheep...

We were woke up this morning by the cheeping of a duckling escaping from one of our cats. I chased it, picked it up and went out back to put him back in the pond and then realized I was in my nightgown...no shoes or robe...eyes were barely focusing...so I came back in handed it to my husband, he got dressed during all of this, and he put the duck back with it's Momma.
I have to learn how to start an art project and finish it before I start another one. I just start reading about processes and I have to try them. I am now going to finish things before I start anything else!
Oh, today is my 23rd wedding anniversary. I so wanted to go to Vegas...but it wasn't happening this year. It's hard to spend money on our anniversary because our sons birthday was last week and our daughters 16th is next week. We'd rather spend the money on them than us.

Tuesday

Scratchy says hello.
Today is such a warm sunny day here. I went out early and got my hair colored. My hairdresser is wonderful and we're discovering more and more that we have in common.
A blogger I follow has had a stroke. I just don't know what to say, other than I am sending every good wish her way for a full and speedy recovery. My husband had a stroke when he was 29...it was devastating. He has had almost twenty years to get better, but he still has little problems left over from it.
My Mom was having numerous mini strokes every day until the docs fixed up. She has her carotids checked regularly.
I wish I were able to wave a magic wand and make her better...
I must be off to work and the rest of the day.

I neglected to add that my daughter also met SARK and Violette...she loved it.

Tonight was the best! I met both SARK and Violette! I was able to have SARK sign her new book for me AND Violette signed it as well. Oh it was fun, inspiring and enlightening.

Gel Medium and such...

I got together everything I need to start a small doll project. I went down and bought Gesso and Gel medium to transfer a pretty face and after many attempts with no luck I realized that instead of Acrylic Gel Medium, I bought Gel Blending Medium...It didn't work! Now I'm a little bummed out...but never fear, I don't give up that easily. I will be going down to buy the right stuff later. I think I'll use my polymer clay and face mold for now. I need to pick up the few things Violette says to put in the doll, so a trip to the herb store will be made as well.
I love seeing all that others have made on their blogs. I need to add some links to my page so I can easily get to them. Right now I go to another's page and move around that way. Hmmm.... I will ask permission first of course.
