On the way to the oral surgeon...

We stopped to eat on the way and this statue/lamp was at our table.
Pretty huh? What does one do before having things cut and yanked out of ones face?
You to Starbucks and enjoy the last cup of hot coffee you'll have for a week.
What does a sixteen year old do?
Take pictures of herself on her phone.
This building?
I just liked it!

It's great to be home and comments on B is for...

Home from the dentist in Seattle and it's nice to be out of the car. It's such a long drive.
The hubby's wisdom teeth are pulled now and his jaw didn't need fixing. Apparently it is a common thing to have the jaw break or splinter when a tooth is pulled.
The broken/splintered area is healing itself and the sliver of bone is reabsorbing back into the body on its own. I am glad of that.
Next the son there will have his wisdom teeth out...before he's in his late forties!
Thanks for all the great comments on my B post. They are funny and nice!
I hadn't thought of saving my big brother post for Wednesday. It would have been a good one. So would broken jaw.
And yes, my broom gets around quite a bit!

Wednesdays B is for...

Broom and box in front of B building...
Broom on the bus...
Broom on the boat...
Broom on the frozen pond...
I won't be near the computer tomorrow, so I am posting today :)
Husband has a broken jaw from a tooth being pulled and will have surgery to fix it.
Maybe I'll find some C pictures in Seattle tonight.

Snow!

I got the snow I asked for a number of posts back, but now I don't want it!
Not today anyway!
We have to drive to Seattle in this tomorrow!
Let's hope for a big thaw by then or I'll have a meltdown!

Isn't it pretty though?

One World One Heart Event

Drum roll Please!
The birds nest goes to...Erin at The Classy Rabbit!
and
The box goes to...
Miss Koolaid!
Yay!
Congratulations Ladies!!!!

The One World One Heart Event was put together by Lisa Oceandreamer at HeART of the Nest so bloggers can meet other bloggers.
I will announce a winner on February 14th, so get to commenting!
You're supposed to have an active blog to enter and then leave me a comment to be entered.

I have been working on what to offer for my giveaway items and I finished them!
The winner will get to choose which prize they want and if I get a lot of entries, I'll just have to offer both items!
UPDATE:
I have had so many comments that I will give both away and I might try to make something more.
Now,the first item is this little bird sitting on her nest of eggs.
She's glittered.
The nest is a paper mache with Angelina fibers formed all around it.
The nest sits on a doily and there's a doily around the paper mache base.
I had fun making this one.

The second is this box I have painted and decorated.
Yes, I am obsessed with crackle paint!
Since the winner will be announced on Valentines Day, the hanging bits spell Love.

So leave me a comment and be entered to win!

Beading Tip

Sometimes when I bead, I use this storage container lid. The beads sit in the indented area and it makes for easier stringing.
If you flip the lid over, there is an even smaller section right along the edge that works as well.
Just watch out that your cats don't jump in your lap, it might go flying.
Then you'll have little beads all over the place!
Then if you're not quite done you can even put the beads, string and all into the storage container that this lid goes to.How's that?

Oh wonderful things

I was part of the Vintage Dragonfly's Itty Bitty White Book swap.
The theme was white and it is beautiful.
i was so excited to open the package and here I'll share a bit of it with you here.

And now for something a little different.
I am going to participate in the One World One Heart Give Away that Lisa Oceandreamer put together and this is what I am working on.
I wonder what it will be when I'm all done?
Hmmm...

Saturday in the office

It's been a bit slow today and with all the work caught up what do we do?
Play with RC helicopters and read Violette's message board.

Now I am going to water the plants, vacuum and maybe even clean the windows.
Oh and it's been snowing off and on here.
The pictures were too blurry to post, however it is supposed to start up big time later today.
Maybe then I'll have a good one for you.
Well, enjoy your Saturday!
Update
Vacuumed, dusted, cleaned windows and windowsills(Brenda you would be proud), organized desk, basically straightened up AND cleaned the toilet!
Now it's 5:30pm,time to close the office until Monday!
Have a great weekend.

Banner

I made myself a new banner last night. It still needs a little something doesn't it? Hmm, and it doesn't stretch across...
I'd better learn how to use Photoshop!
I might try something different tomorrow...maybe red again. I liked the red.
UPDATE
Today, Saturday I used a pic of eggs from Michaels...

Sweet Goodness Swap

My partner for the Sweet Goodness Hanging Heart Swap, Raesha, has received her gift!
Here on the front I used the name of her blog, My Love to personalize it.
I made a rose out of card stock and tried a little painting of a tree and a nest holding the bird picture.
On the back I Modge Podged a pretty angel.
I am so happy she got it.
She had talked about trying to find a Beatles calendar for the new year and my daughter found one at our mall for her.
She should be getting it very soon!
Happy Valentines to Raesha!

My friend Cris and her surgery

My friend and former co-worker Cris had emergency surgery on Friday because her intestines were dying. It seems that leasions had formed from gall bladder surgery that she had in 1994.
I don't generally ask these things here, however, if you believe in saying a prayer, lighting a candle or putting her in your bank of good thoughts, please do. She is home today to get better and we want to keep it that way.
Thanks everyone and be well.

Icy pond

My previous post is for Wednesday's ABC A week.
I should have called the blog, "Life on the Pond".
I decided that that will be the theme of my ABC Wednesday posts.
This is the pond today all iced over.I've said this many times and I love living here with the pond.
Don't forget my A post below.

ABC Wednesday begins again!

A is for...

ALGAE!
Look at all the algae in the pond.
I went out to take some pictures and the pond is iced over, so these pictures are from the summer when we could see some algae.
The boys were pollywog and frog hunting for fun.
The ducks were just cruising.
Wikipedia has info on algae!
Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Sunday Strawberries

A basket of strawberries.
I want to write about something, strawberries, life, however, I am short on words for so long now. I used to feel smart. Now I feel slow and well, unable to come up with words. I catch myself zoning off and forgetting what I was doing and I have no energy .
I wanted to visit my Mom today since her caregiver doesn't see her today, but I just can't get moving.
My shoulder hurts all the way down to my hand. My left ear rings 24 hrs a day. I am almost too tired to cry.
Well, I think I just wrote about a basket of Strawberry Whine!
Enjoy your Sunday...

I've been tagged...twice.

First I have been tagged by Violette at Violette's Folk Art.

Here are the rules: Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.

Share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog or by e-mailing them.

Here are five odd facts about me:

1. The smell of licorice turns my stomach.

2. I have an intense fear of leaving my home or property.

3. When I see and hear a marching band, I cry.

4. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

5. I love to smell pineapple and coconut.

I am tagging five people:

Anna's World
Meanderings
Groggy Froggy
Sioux's Aubergine Pensees
Mrs. Nesbitt's Place

Second Sophie tagged me and I have to tell you 7 weird things about me. Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you
2. Post 7 random/weird facts about yourself on your blog
3. Tag 7 people at the end and link to their blog
4. Leave comments on each blog that you tag so that they know!

And here should be the 7 weird things, however since I've already told you five, here are a just few more.

5. I have to tap things first before I touch or take hold of them.
6. I am allergic to all berries, tomatoes, turkey, evergreen trees , latex and grapes. So no wine for me!
7. I am told that I "scratch like a hound". Maybe it's those allergies...

So if you're reading this consider yourself tagged!

Z is for

Zipper

Visit here to learn more about zippers.
Since I'm at my Mom's caring for her tonight, I'm away from my computer and the photos I was going to use for Z, so I found this gif at Wikipedia.
The gif above is animated over at Wikipedia. Go check it out.
I hope you're all catching some good zzz's at all the Wednesday posts!

Me=cranky

I was a little cranky today at someone and I am sorry for it. It had something to do with not responding to something was not "good manners". Well, it came at the wrong time is all.
My Mom went to her oncologist today and they are worried because in their words, she has no blood and will have a double transfusion tomorrow. A normal platelet count is at the lowest, 150,000 and Mom's is today at 21,000. Her red and white cell counts are almost nothing as well, so she's asked me to come tonight and stay with her, because her eyes are blurring and all.
So to Dear Kai, I am sorry that it got to me so.

Pay it forward

Pay It Forward
Jennifer Conway at http://jenniferconway.blogspot.com/ has invited everyone to take part in this Pay It Forward challenge. I too think it is a great idea and am willing to play! I will send a handmade gift/thingy/something to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this "Pay It Forward" exchange. I don't know what that gift will be, and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! And truthfully, it will probably be later than sooner! The only thing you have to do in return is "Pay It Forward" by making the same promise on your blog with a link back to me. So basically, if you comment I'll send you something crafty that I'll make! Once you sign up, copy and paste the above paragraph on your blog, and three other lucky people will be the recipients of your handmade work. You must post this on your blog to be eligible.

Z is coming

I am having the worst time thinking of a Z post for Wednesday. I can think of some Z's, but they only arrive when I'm sleeping.
I'll keep at it...only two more days and we'll have been through the entire alphabet together!

Sunday Antiques

Went to the Antique stores yesterday looking for vintage wallpaper, postcards and just about anything really. Not much luck there except for some old glittery birthday cards that I might use in art.
Looking across the street, I could see our local museum.
It is a beautiful building.
Heading back up to the car...

Well, have a great day.

Is Winter over?

We haven't had much snow this year and the rain seems to have been showing up less than usual.
We have had wind, wind , wind though.
Now this morning the Canadian Geese flew overhead...they're loud as can be...and that usually means that winter is done.
I don't want it to be done.
I want some snow...just a little so I can wear my new gloves and put my snow boots on and take a walk in the snow.
Please. My Mom started her chemotherapy this week and she's doing well with it.
She bought herself a yellow bucket to vomit in during the car ride back and forth...a half hour each way.
The medicine she has been given keeps the nausea down and makes her sleep all the time.
Good stuff.
Well, I'd better post this and get back to work.
Toodles.

Baby Shower day

My friend is about to have a baby, so I gave her a shower.
It was at a pizza parlor and we had loads of fun playing games, eating pizza and cake and just visiting.I made the diaper cake and was very pleased with how it turned out.
I painted the tin in the background for her to use.
Can you tell that her theme is dragonflies?
Don't we make a happy group?
They are all ladies that I worked with at a wonderful childcare center a few years ago.
We were like a family...bickering and all and we still love each other...at least I think so.
