Happy Friday

So I've been waiting for my camera to come home so I can post a picture or two.
Soon.
I have one from last night when I had to wear a sombrero and be sung to at dinner...it was actually a good picture.
Some raccoon pics too...well anyway, soon.
Today I visited my mom at the hospital. She was getting blood and platelets at her request. Since that is all that is keeping her alive now, she is allowed to ask for it whenever she wants it. She keeps an eye on her counts each week and they were low. They seem to get lower faster now. It's to be expected.
While walking her to the bathroom, I remembered carrying my dad to the bathroom when I cared for him in his last month of life. I didn't just walk him, I carried him, he refused to wear a diaper and couldn't hold himself up at all. anyway, The carrying was getting to my back, so the nurse gave a catheter and once she did, he never stood up again, sat up or left his bed. So, I like that mom can still walk to the bathroom with just me as a backup...She said it was just to pick her up if she falls. She's funny.

Aloha Mahala,
I've been thinking about your last two post. I didnt really know what to say.
My mum is in another country and Lorna tells me when she's had a stroke or something worse. It's hard to deal with, but I know everyday she's on the planet. It's a gift.

I know you feel that way about your mum.
Both of you are in my thoughts today..

A hand to hold, a shoulder to lean on - what great gifts you are giving to your mom - and to yourself in return.

Sending you huge hugs Mahala. You are so brave to go through this. The pic of your mom and you is totally beautiful! A treasure! In your recent post when you said "hug someone you love today - or call them. Do it for the both of you"....such wonderful advice. The last thing I said to my daughter before I lost her was in a phone call...."I love you". We always ended our frequent calls that way. Thinking of that, knowing that she knew I loved her dearly, sometimes holds me up when I give in to the grief that hangs around still. Such good advice you gave. You hang in there. Your mom raised a special girl! Kudos to her! xoxoxo

You are an amazing daughter, care giver, deep hearted, wonderful human being. I remembered when you talked about your Dad when we were in Sedona....you've been through a lot and I hope those around you know just how truly fabulous you are.
I think of you often and know the heart break of not being able to do anything but BE THERE.
Please let your Mom know she is thought of and how special we think her daughter is!
XOXOXOXO
